BOARD CHAIR MESSAGE

A year of continued growth at RISCPA

Well, that was fast. Serving as RISCPA President this past year was a wonderful experience, from both a professional and personal perspective. It was also, thankfully, a very productive year one of real substance.

RISCPA has continued to create positive momentum and increased communication among its members. By upgrading our efficiencies we have made ourselves much more available to  our members. Our commitment to reach via social media outlets like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn has helped strengthen relationships. We have continued to develop and enhance our bi-weekly Society updates, as well as our quarterly “What Counts” newsletter. When there were hearings of significance at the State House or regulatory changes at the federal level, we made sure you received the news – immediately.

Throughout the year we have examined ways to maximize benefits to our members, while continuing to grow support for RISCPA.  We are always looking to maximize the quality and access to CPE courses for our members. Ensuring that we are on the cutting edge of the technological advances used to deliver CPE offerings - and making sure these resources are sustainable has and will continue to be a priority. I am particularly proud of the Operations and Technology Task Force’s work to streamline and provide tools that help our members carry out strategic objectives.

As a Society, our membership has never been higher. We are a vibrant and growing body, with so much to offer members, both new to the profession or veterans of it. I am excited about our move this coming July to 40 Sharpe Dr. in Cranston. The centralized location and ample parking are ideal. I see our CPE offerings expanding to reach even more members from this location.

I want to congratulate and welcome all of the new CPAs who have attained their licenses as well as existing staff, volunteers and members of the Board of Directors for their tireless support. I also want to welcome the new members of the board: Pablo Cabrera, CPA, of FM Global and Buky Folami, CPA, PhD, of Bryant University.

My support and congratulations go to our new president, Jim Morrison, of Teknor Apex Company, who has long been a terrific resource to the Society through his tenure on the board.

This year has been a wonderful ride, marked by great professional relationships and new friendships fostered along the way.

Sincerely,

Steve Ursillo, Jr.
