PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE

At RISCPA, Congrats Are Par For The Course

Well, summer is winding down, and like all of you, I’m delighted with our summer activities and excited about what’s ahead.

Hopefully, you’re enjoying the many fine outdoor attributes the Ocean State and New England have to offer.

Although the RISCPA team takes time to participate in summer festivities, we’re also hard at work preparing for the upcoming educational season and the premiere events scheduled for fall and winter.

As tradition would have it, summer is also a special time as we hold our Charitable Golf Outing. In its twenty-fifth year, this year’s event was stellar in every way. Once again, the fashionable Warwick Country Club (in many ways, Little Rhody’s version of Pebble Beach), was the setting as we entertained 140 enthusiastic golfers. For the third year, Community Prep School was the designated beneficiary, receiving 50% ($10,000) of the net proceeds from the tournament. The remaining $10,000 will go to RISCPA’s Philanthropic Fund at the RI Foundation.

Special thanks are in order for our wonderful sponsors, supporters and volunteers:

  • TD Bank - Title Sponsor
  • BNY-Mellon Bank - Cocktail/dinner sponsor
  • Capital Wealth Management - Lunch sponsor
  • INSKIP BMW - Hole-in-One Auto Prize
  • All of the Corporate Tee sponsors
  • Richard & Louise Carriere for their generosity
  • Anthony Mangiarelli and John Rainone, Co-Chairs of the event
  • The RISCPA Social/Philanthropic Committee
  • Lisa Dantas and the children of Community Prep
  • … and, last but certainly not least, RISCPA staffers:  Susan Breen, Denise Jacobson, Ellen DeCataldo and Donna Perry, who perform in an exemplary manner, providing a steady stream of competent coverage all year long.

RISCPA’s education platform has been announced and there are many fine courses from which to choose, both in person and online.

Leadership Has Its Privileges!

Based on last year’s successful launch of the Atrion/RISCPA Leadership Series, we’re pleased to announce this year’s offerings. Reviews across industry sectors have been impressive. Suffice it to say, while being technically astute is important, having a solid leadership skill-set very much remains the key driver of success!

1.“Applied Leadership: Capturing the Hearts and Minds of Employees, Customers and Partners” on August 25th is designed for mid-level professionals who want to take their careers to the next level by deepening their understanding of the needs of their key customers/clients, employees, peers and investors. Led by Miguel Rey, noted academic authority and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Atrion Networking Corporation, the course is centered on the application of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to the service industry.  Click here to register

2.Our “Leadership Workshop Challenge” on September 26th is designed for professionals looking to positively impact the lives and careers of others. This exceptionally motivating session is led by the incredibly talented and dynamic, Tim Hebert, CEO and President of Atrion Networking Corporation. Interestingly, pedagogical objectives include teaching participants how to model the way; inspire a shared vision; challenge the process; enable others to act and to encourage! Click here to register

Please visit: www.RISCPA.org, to register and to see the impressive reviews. Also visit our Event Page to register for Membership Day and our Fall Networking event on Thursday, September 22 at the Marriott in Providence.

Until next time, remember, “There’s never been a better time to be a CPA!”
