PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE

RISCPA’s Charitable Golf Outing

Among the well-deserved vacations, cookouts and Bristol’s fabulous Fourth of July parade this summer, RISCPA’s 23rd Annual Charitable Golf Outing took place. The event was held July 6th at the Warwick Country Club and, in many ways,

the Ocean State’s response to California’s Pebble Beach.

While enjoying the beautiful weather and camaraderie, this year’s 140 golfers had the opportunity to network with some of the region’s top professionals.  The tournament’s beneficiary, Providence’s Community Prep School, received half of the event’s proceeds and the other half was dedicated to RISCPA’s Philanthropic Donor Fund at the RI Foundation.

We would like to thank our members, guests, RISCPA staff and our organization’s Social & Philanthropic Committee for a job well done! And, a very special thanks to our event sponsors: TD Bank, Title Sponsor; Oxford Risk Management/ Trinity Advisory Group, Luncheon Sponsor; and, Fabiani-Pinto, Cocktail Reception Sponsor.

Website Re-design in the Works

As recently mentioned, your Society is making some major improvements to its website which will afford members easy navigability throughout. The website industry’s leader, iMarc, has been chosen to enhance our organization’s website, making everything from course and event registration to updating personal and business data, simple and efficient.

To reflect RISCPA’s progressiveness, our web theme will be: Advocate, Educate & Lead!  We plan to unveil the new site during the fall.

Congratulations to Susan Breen, as project leader, along with Denise Jacobson and Ellen Decataldo for their hard work and efforts in fulfilling all of the necessary steps to make this project happen.

Who’s PAM?

“Is PAM a new individual who recently joined RISCPA?” This was the most asked question when RISCPA first introduced its new member category: Professional Affiliate Member (PAM).  It’s not one individual, but a number of professionals who have decided to align themselves with a successful professional organization, your Society.

The program was designed to provide a continuum of business developmental opportunities to our members. So far, many of the area’s leading financial, investment, legal and business professionals have had a very positive reception to PAM, and many have joined.

It’s Almost Here: CPE Season

For all preparing for this year’s CPE season please note that we have many exceptional in person courses scheduled at RISCPA’s acoustically enhanced ATRION Educational Center along with online offerings through Surgent & McCoy and through our partnership with the NY State Society of CPAs.  Please register early as openings will fill up quickly.

Also, RISCPA’s Center for Business Education in partnership with URI’s SBDC (Small Business Development Center) is off and running.  Our Society will be announcing a new three level leadership course beginning this fall, so be on the lookout for details.

On behalf of RISCPAs’ staff and Board, it’s a pleasure serving your professional needs. And remember, “There’s never been a better time to be a CPA.”
